Day Eight

Course reflection

This is the end of class. Through this course, i learned how to write reflection, and contrast to before; i only use the simple apps like Weibo and Wechat to express my ideas and emotions. But now I can publish the article with formal words. The background can be changed and I can choose what theme I like.

The Classdojo, the Padlet and Wenjuanxing are my favorite tools to use. Classdojo provides a platform where teachers and parents can interact with each other online. The design of the website is so cute that fit the children. Each child has his own head portrait on it and these icons are all lovely. Students can showcase and share their learning by adding photos and videos to their own portfolios. Through the software, parents can know how to guide their children do strengthen what they have learnt in class. Teachers design and develop authentic learning and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and the classdojo make good use of the designing ideas.

Padlet provides people an online bulletin board to create their own stories. In my opinions, it’s just like Chinese Weibo or QQ space. I can put my daily photos and add my emtion labels above the photos. And you can choose the picture you like on the interface and the background has many choices you can select. Each theme of the background is beautiful. The platform make students communicate with others even strangers. They share their happy or sad things happen in their daily life online by padlet. Padlet can be applied in teaching. It is a simple tool, but one that can accentuate the best teaching practices teachers employ on a day-to-day basis. For students, carefully posed questions will allow them to respond in many ways—which only helps classroom discussion.

Wenjuanxing is a professional online survey, evaluation, voting platform, focused on providing users with a powerful, user-friendly online questionnaire, data collection, custom reports, and series service research results. And the traditional method of investigation compared with other research sites or questionnaire survey system, it is fast and easy to use obviously. Due to the advantage of low cost, it has been widely used by a large number of enterprises and individuals.

The audio file, website design and the flipped classroom I may not use in the future. I can use the video with vivid

frame and picture to in place of the boring audio file. The website design is too complex to make it, so it wastes too much time. I also think the flipped classroom is not the best way to teach children because the traditional method is more suitable for young children. Too much modern technology is not good for their growth.

The challenge I met was that this site just allow one person online, if two people on the line at the same time, the site would be lost efficacy. We try many times to edit the site, but the mistake happened frequently, and all the things we have completed missed. So we had restarted to do them again and again.

Three things that helped you understand the course content and learn better during your group work are the PPT, the teacher’s instruction and group members ’cooperation. Three things that I should be avoided or improved for group work is the concentration, the listening efficiency and the writing ability. My advantage is that I could do the task on time by heart and the design of my own blog is cute. I joined in the discussion with my group members actively. But my weak points are that I’m not good at the knowledge of Internet. What’s more, I couldn’t listen to the teacher well so I’m not able to grasp what the teacher said in the class. The English teaching is a bit hard for me to accept it and writing reflection every day is also a problem for me.

I hope that I will make good use of the materials and websites into my work. And I want to be an excellent teacher in the future.

Online Questionnaire, Worksheet, and Quizzes

We were asked to create a quiz to assess our learning outcomes. There are several tools such as polleverywhere.com, testmoz.com, and sojump.com that can be used

.Polleverywhere is a web based SMS voting system. You can create a vote after you register it. By polleverywhere.com ,you can ask the audience a question. Then watch as the chart updates automatically with their responses.Testmoz is a very quick and simple way to generate an online quiz for your students.  The program has many options so you can customize the quiz and the responses your students will receive. Testmoz is free, and does’t require peopleto register. So it’s quick and convenient for me to build a fully functional test in about a minute. This tool is an online version of a standard traditional written test, therefore, it has similar limitations.  These tests may often focus on facts, memorized information, and lower order thinking skills.  They can often lack skills of analysis, evaluation, synthesis, and creativity especially without an essay portion or longer problem solving section.  The tests may not be connected to authentic application of the subject.  This online tool has additional limitations, such as the inability to include images or videos. In classroom teaching, teachers can use these tools to make questionaire or the test. What’s more ,the questionaire can be distributed to parents or friends to know each students’ condition. And if you have something you want’t to survey, these tools will help you settle the survey results.I think the ISTE standards that design and develop digital age learning ecperiences and assessments these projects help me meet. Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments by these tools.

Day Six

Video editing

Today, we discussed Enhancing Teaching and Learning Through the Use of Digital Story-telling. Digital storytelling is a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their story. The media used may include the digital equivalent of film techniques, stills, audio only, or any of the other forms of non-physical media which individuals can use to tell a story or present an idea.

I choose Imoive to edit my video. This video tool is convenient to use like adding the audio file, background music or the special effects. And it has many strong functions that i may use in future work. When the camera putting in front of me, i always laughed and be afraid of looking at it. So I tried many times to make a complete video. And I’m too nervous to recite what i have wrote on the paper and i couldn’t express what i want to say. If you want to use video in the class to teach children, you must notice that you shouldn’t read insipidly and the video can’t include many words. The content of the video must be vivid and you should tell children the knowledge with your body language.

The ISTE standard that Model digital age work and learning the audio and video projects meet. Because teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. And the way to use audio and video is a modern online teaching system which combine people’s explain.

Day Five

Audio Editing

Today we learn how to do an audio file connected to the lesson plan which we have done before. First, I choose a video form Yutube about children exercise which include the background music. Due to the lack of teaching experience, I felt that I couldn’t consider each aspects to teach them. Next,I wrote my speech draft on a paper and I even felt a bit shy to talk to children with a cute tone. When recording, I failed for many times because of the sense of nervous, but at last , the effect of the audio file is not bad. At the beginning, the file format is wrong, but I turned it into MP3 format. Through the experience of doing a virtual teacher, i feel more confident to be a good preschool teacher in the future.

I create my video with the original  camera on the iphone and edit it by the app Imoive because this video tool is convenient to use like adding the audio file or the special effects. And it has many strong functions that i may use in future work.

In the middle of the video ,i insert two picutures to district each part. And I invite my good friend to make this video with me, both of us do the cute movements.

In the classroom teaching , we should make good use of audio and video. We must do the teaching marterial by heart and give children the meaningful knowledge. We should combine the audio and video to attract children like let them sing a song or dance. Through the music, they will feel relax and be interested in the process of achieveing knowledge.

Website Design

Today, we learn how to creat a course website. A web page is a document that is suitable for the World Wide Web and web browsers. Web pages usually include information as to the colors of text and backgrounds and very often also contain links to images and sometimes other types of media to be included in the final view. A document is a written, drawn, presented, or memorialized representation of thought.

A website, or simply site, is a collection of related web pages, including multimedia content, typically identified with a common domain name, and published on at least one web server. The reason why i  need to plan my site with a storyboard ahead of time is that we should know the order that we should do. Creating a site needs long times and there are several elements which may influence the process .

Each group member has different task allocations and site pages. I responsed the part of “resources”, so I opened the Yutube to research the information about children exercise and put the brief introduction on page. The challenge I met was that this site just allow one person online, if two people on the line at the same time, the site would be lost efficacy. We try many times to edit the site, but the mistake happened frequently, and all the things we have completed missed. So we had restarted to do them again and again.

Day Three

My experience with class management software: classdojo

Today we use the free online software called classdojo, which provide a platform where teachers and parents can interact with each other online. The design of the website is so cute that fit the children. Each child has his own head protrait on it and these icons are all lovely. Students can showcase and share their learning by adding photos and videos to their own portfolios. Through the software, parents can know how to guide their children do strengthen what they have learnt in class. In the near future,  I’ll record students performances and give them corresponding scores. And i’ll send messages to parents like the curriculum schedule and the daily arrangement in order to help them know the situation of children at any moment.

ISTE standars are standards for the use of technology in teaching and learning. The Classdojo is belong to the part of ISTE Standards for Educators. As educators, these standards will deepen theif practice, promote collaboration with peers, challenge them to rethink traditional approaches and prepare students to drive their own learning. Teachers disign and develop authentic learning and assessments incorporating contemporary tools , and the classdojo make good use of the desgining iedas.

Integrating electronic white board in classroom teaching

Day Two

My understanding on the flipped classroom

Flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that instead the traditional learning style by deliverling instruction online out of class. Students can study lecture even at home. The flipped classroom is to engage students in active learning where there is a greater focus on students’ application of knowledge but not just theoretical knowledge. The flipped classroom make use of modern technology to attract students’ interests and under the using of it, students may not afraid of missing the knowledge which they have listened in the class. They can find their weakness and improve the knowledge point through the tools online. What’s more ,they can get more communication with ohter peers which help students know how to get well along with other people. Through communicating, their thoughts will be more wide and their language ability will be improved.

I’ll be a teacher in the future, and at that time, i would capture what the students like and what they need to find the best educational method which fit them.

Working experiences on creating a lesson plan with the flipped classroom teaching model

The flipped classroom teaching model is a high-efficiency teaching method but for me, i’m not very familiar with it because i just know it from the video and Internet, but not operate it bymeself. So, it’s not a very simple thing for me to creat a lesson plan due to the stange operation.  And  we should formulate the major theme and concrete schemes to complete our research plan. But what made me exciting is that our group work together and everyone had his own ideas, so we responsed each part of the project and the process of discussing in the group with group members made us add our relationship. The atmosphere in a group is warm and we learn how to cooperate with others and how to establish a specific project. So keeping the train of thought clear is important in creating a lesson plan.

My experiences on working on the survey

We used https://www.polleverywhere.com/ to create a survey to get to know students’ knowledge background and technology skills with ten questions. When creating the questions, we find that we can’t raise the high-quality questions in short time. And all the website we use in the class is foreign, so in domestic, the internet speed is too slow to use and the website always couldn’t be opend. Sometimes the interface showed me that it made mistakes. I’ll use the tool acoording to its instrucion and download the VPN. If i will do some research in the future life, i’ll use it to make questionnaire online through it.

About ED326 and Chen Qiwei

Hi,my name is Sophie. I study in Tianhua Collage and my major is Early Preschool Education.  I love children and be patient for them. As an university student, i’m busy with my study but in my spare time, i learn some musical instruments because i think music is likely to beef up my brain and strengthen coordination. It’s  a kind of stress. I have also learned karate for one year and get the wonderful performances in many competitive race and this skill can help me to protect myself and the people around me.

Today i have learnt the course which called Technology in Inclusive Early Childhood Environments. The teacher told us how to use modern technology and apps in teaching and study, we create our own blog and establish our group. I think this course is  a bit tough for me to do it and accept it because as a Chinese, i have never used blog abroad and the internet interiorly is so slow to open the website. And the process to publish my article is too complex.

I’m looking forward to be a good teacher in the future and i will make more efforts to learn the courses well in the university.
